China’s British-themed integrated resort, The Londoner Macao, to be completed by September
With no tourists around, the construction progress has been even faster than expected
Sands China’s President?Dr.?Wilfred Wong?announced that the first phase?of the integrated resort at the?centre of Cotai?Strip,will be completed by September.
In a report by Inside Asian Gaming, Jane Ka Cheng Wong quotes Dr.Wilfred Wong’s own words “Our construction progress was not postponed, but has been even faster than expectations since there have been no tourists.” Dr?Wong spoke to the media on Monday at the launch of a three-day Sands China “Shopping Carnival”.
Dr. Wilfred Wong states that the Londoner Macao will open in phases in 2020 and 2021 but the majority of construction has been completed.

The main fa?ade of the US$2 billion transformation of Sands?Cotai?into The Londoner Macao will recreate the architecture of the Houses of Parliament, including a replica of the Big Ben clock.??
The property will?feature?four?world-class?hotels?–?The Londoner Hotel, Conrad?Maca, Sheraton?Grand?Macao Hotel and The St. Regis Macao – with over 6,000 hotel rooms to choose from.?The Conrad Macao and Sheraton?Grand?Macao are the world’s largest hotels in their brands respectively.?
It will also?feature a new 6,000-seat arena, rebranded Shoppes at The Londoner retail mall, street shows, a VR experience plus a new?Dongbei?and Sichuan cuisine restaurant, a Thai restaurant, a British styled restaurant named Churchill’s Table and a gastropub by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.?
It may also feature more gaming options, with capacity for up to 450 tables and 2,000 slot machines,?but?the gaming floor space itself won’t change.?
Dr?Wong added, “Non-gaming entertainment options comprise 95% of the budget for The Londoner Macau,”?
Dr?Wong on discussing the upgrades, said Sands China “never underestimated competitors” and that “Macau has the highest standards in hospitality, so everybody is trying to increase quality.”?
“We hope the pace (of The Londoner Macao’s opening) will have consistency with the government’s border reopening policies. Once we have enough visitors, we could open the Londoner Macao at any time,” he said.?
On Monday, The?Sands China?announced its?three-day Shopping Carnival, with an offering?of 500 booths for?both local SMEs and Sands,?to be?held from 7?to 9 August 2020 at the?Cotai?Expo.?
