South Africa’s National Lottery under investigation due to corruption allegations

The Special Investigation Unit is investigating transactions dating back to January 2014

After a few days after being subject to scam allegations, the South African National Lottery offices were raided by The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) due to corruption and rampant fraud accusations.

The SIU came armed with warrants from a magistrate which gave them permission to confiscate documents, laptop and any other Kaizer Kganyagonecessary files.

The spokesperson for the SIU, Kaizer Kganyago (pictured), said;

“We are here. We were granted a search warrant on [Monday] to come and get documents from the commission and all other areas where we can find the documents.”

Kganyago said that the SIU were asked to commence an investigation on the National Lottery due to the amount of allegations put forward in regards to the NLC. The investigation will look into all the transactions from Jan 1 2014 ‘until the date of proclamation.’

According to an official report, the SIU will investigate any alleged
