Manchester United take on Everton in the early kick-off on Saturday and it could be a game where chances are at a premium for both of these teams.

United’s Alejandro Garnacho and Everton’s Ashley Young do battle during the reverse fixture at Goodison Park earlier in the season.

Erik ten Hag’s side have kept 7 clean sheets in the Premier League this season with 4 of these coming at Old Trafford.

Everton have kept an impressive 5 clean sheets from their last 10 games in all competitions on the road and have 8 clean sheets from their 27 games in the Premier League this campaign. The graphic below shows Manchester United joint 6th and Everton joint 3rd for the number of clean sheets so far this term.

clean sheet

Jordan Pickford has the joint second highest number of clean sheets (8) and is just one behind Arsenal’s David Raya for this statistic.

At the other end of the pitch Everton are the 3rd lowest scorers in the Premier League with just 29 goals and the joint 4th lowest scorers away from home with 14 goals so have been rather toothless upfront this season.

The Toffees have scored just 5 times in their last 10 Premier League matches yet have only conceded a meagre 5 goals in their last 6 games, so as lacklustre as they’ve been going forward they are usually a well organised and difficult unit to break down.

Sean Dyche’s side have also kept a clean sheet in 4 of their 13 away games in the Premier League (31%) and only conceded in injury time at Brighton and two late goals at Manchester City in their last two games away from Goodison Park.

The graphic below shows Everton with the 2nd highest percentage for clean sheets away from home in the league this season, with only Arsenal keeping more.

clean sheet away

Furthermore, The Red Devils have failed to score in 26% of their matches and for Everton it’s even higher at 37%, so both have struggled for goals overall this term.

The graphic below shows both United and Everton are amongst the worst 5 teams who have failed to score in the Premier League this campaign.

score failure

Everton have also failed to score in 3 of their last 6 away games in the Premier League.

UniBet are offering 2.25 on there being under 2.5 goals in the match and given all the statistics this may well pay off.

With top scorer Rasmus Hoijland still out injured for Erik ten Hag’s side and Dominic Calvert-Lewin currently on a 20 game goal drought, it’s tough to see where the goals will come from for either of these teams on Saturday and defences could well come out on top come full-time.
