Spurs make the long trip up to the north-east to face an improving Newcastle team at St. James’ Park buoyed by the fact of moving into the top 4 after last weekend’s victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Magpies have European aspirations themselves and sit just 2 points behind 6th place Manchester United going into the fixture.

St. James’ Park has seen a total of 59 goals in 16 Premier League games this campaign.

We could be in store for an entertaining game with the potential for plenty of goals as both teams have scored the joint 5th highest number of goals so far this campaign with 65 goals each.

Eddie Howe’s side are 3rd top scorers at home in the Premier League with Ange Postecoglu’s men having the accolade of being 3rd top scorers away from home.

The graphic below shows Newcastle with 39 goals from their 16 home matches, an average of 2.44 goals per game and Tottenham with 31 goals from their 15 games on the road, an average of 2.07 goals per game.

Furthermore, both Newcastle and Spurs find themselves 1st and 6th respectively for games where Over 3.5 goals has happened this campaign.

The graphic below shows 50% of Newcastle’s matches at St. James’ Park have ended with Over 3.5 goals and 53% of Spurs’ away games yielding this outcome.

As impressive as both teams have been in attack, they are vulnerable at the other end.

Postecoglu’s men have only kept 3 clean sheets in their last 24 matches in all competitions and for Howe’s Newcastle it’s 5 clean sheets out of 23 games so both sides struggle to keep the ball out of their own net.

Additionally, Newcastle have scored in all 16 of their matches on home soil and for Spurs they have only failed to score in 1 of their 15 games on the road.

Recent previous meetings between the teams have also produced a staggering 26 goals from the last 5 matches, including a 4-1 win for Tottenham back in December and a 6-1 for The Magpies back in April of 2023 so this trend could well continue in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Unibet are offering 1.95 on Over 3.5 goals and it would be difficult to argue against this paying off with the statistics this campaign and the way both sides set up and like to attack and score goals.

Another betting market of interest is for Alexander Isak to score anytime during the game.

Isak scored twice when the sides met at St. James’ last season and has been in a rich vain of form in recent weeks. The Swedish striker is currently the joint 6th top scorer in the league and is 2.30 with Bet365 to add to his 15 Premier League goals so far.

Isak has scored 5 goals in his last 5 Premier League games with 4 of these coming in the last 3 games at St. James’ so there looks to be value in him notching another goal on Saturday.
